6/28/2011 0 Comments OOTD: Summer ComfortI apologize for the double OOTD post but the last one was suppose to go up earlier! This look is super cute and comfy for running around. It's a yellow Guess strapless romper, it has a drawstring waist but I prefer to tie that, then hide it and put a brown belt over that area which helps to break up all the yellow. I pair it with my brown gladiators add some sunglass and your done! 6/28/2011 0 Comments OOTD: Urban SafariSo I wore this outfit last week to my final exam (which I know is a little over dressed but I didn't care!) but never got to upload it here until now! (It has been on my Facebook page "Live Life Your Way" for a couple of days though) I will post those photo as well as a revamped version that I originally was going to wear until I realized the top was in the wash. So hopefully you guys enjoy that! I called it Urban Safari because it has browns, greens, beige and earth colours along with gladiators! 6/20/2011 0 Comments Inner Bad-AssSo today for some reason I fee like I need to release my inner bad-ass. Probably because I'm feeling rebellious because I have not really started studying for my summer school exam which is on Friday (teehee). So to distract myself even more from reading the most boring articles of life I decided to figure out what I was going to wear to work tonight. In the photos I'm wearing "leather" (or PVC) leggings with the outfit but for work I've swapped those for a pair of black wash skinny jeans from Urban Behaviour. The plain black tank top is from Old Navy and the black and grey mesh leopard crop top is from Urban Planet. I have a couple of shoe options for later but none were photographed. I also did rocker-esque makeup and hair style. Hope you enjoy! Let me know if you have any bad-ass moments you want to share! 6/17/2011 2 Comments Designer DilemmaI don't know if any of you guys have ever had this problem but it seems that a lot of clothing items I want I either can't find, or I find it but I don't really like it. I feel either the material is wrong, don't like the print or whatever; and then I say to myself, "I wish I could just make my own clothes." I have never touched a sewing machine before but I have used needle and thread but for nothing more than patching a rip in a top or jeans.
I have always been a very creative person but my personal abilities don't quite match what I'm capable of imagining; which is quite the dilemma... I just need to pair up with a friend of mine who is more artistically inclined then I am so they can help get the ideas down and then I'll have to learn how to sew... *sigh* I wish I could be like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and could just snap my fingers and get what I'd like. So I guess my dilemma is my artistic skills; I need to learn how to draw clothes and then fabric hunt and learn to sew. Maybe if I ever truly pursued these ideas I'd be able to make myself the perfect pair of jeans (because I have yet to find a pair that fit me everywhere I want them to). I'll be helping to style a photo shoot with some of my friends in July and helping with makeup as well and my girls are on point with Do you guys have any fashion dreams? Is something holding you back? Let me know :) 6/14/2011 0 Comments Summer Wardrobe Update! So I was scouring the internet the other day for some fashion thoughts and came across a website called College Fashion (collegefashion.net) and I was instantly hooked! One of the articles I am going to reiterate to you guys today is one they have labelled as 6 Must-have Items for summer. Reading through it I laughed because I already own 5 of them and the funnier thing is that I had all these items before this summer!
I want to know if you guys own any of these, your thoughts on these items and if you are going to go out and buy any of them. I have high praise for all the items I own that fall under these 6 headings but would love to know what your opinions are. Let us begin! 1. Straw Tote Whenever I see these I instantly think of summer and the beach. I think its the perfect beach bag that can also be worn with pretty much anything. Can you think of anything it shouldn't be worn with? Exactly. These bags come in many natural colours of straw (light yellow to darker brown) and then you get the fun/funky ones that have died colours or coloured ribbons, flowers or bows. I love them all. This is the only item on the list that I do NOT own. So that will soon change! 2. Something Neon I LOVE COLOUR! Everyone who knows me knows that I love colour and I am not one to shy away. So a dash of neon is something that everyone needs. It can be anything from an accept piece (earrings, purse, shoes) to a piece of clothing (top, pants, dress) but whatever it is embrace it. I have seen neon bathing suits, sarongs, dresses and especially flip-flops. It adds a punch to any wardrobe and brightens up anything. If you are scared pair it with a neutral for a fool-proof look! 3. Floppy Sun Hat So if you've watched my Favourites Video or looked at any of my fashion photos on my Facebook Page ("Live Life Your Way") you will know that I have one of these hats from J. Crew from last summer. I LOVE IT. It adds glamour to any outfit. It comes in many colours. You can get a nice black one, straw colour or a bright colour (make it neon! ahaha). This hat is great because the wider the brim the more protection from the sun which is great for me because of my fair skin but no matter what colour your skin you need to protect your skin from the sun. It is both stylish and functional. 4. Colourful Shorts So summer means shorts and more shorts, but let us expand from denim!! I love my denim cut offs but I also love my purple shorts, white shorts, beige, olive green and all the other colours that I own. Pick a colour that you love and go with it! They are great for adding a bit of colour to an outfit and can be (somewhat) subtle or very bold if you opt for the colour-blocked look. 5. Maxi Dress One of my first Fashion posts was about maxi dresses and how much I love them. I have two now and you can dress them up or dress them down. They are great for hot days, even though that sounds backwards but if you don't believe me scroll down and read my post on them! This is not the first summer that these dresses have been popular nor do I believe it will be the last. I will reiterate the fact that these dresses are amazing for summer! 6. Espadrilles These shoes have been revamped and come in a range of styles: flats, wedges, lace-ups and a range of colours and designs. It's easy to find a pair that fit your style and outfit. I have a couple pairs but they are both wedges and I couldn't live without them; I think they are fab. So I hope this has helped you guys ! Share your thoughts below! 6/13/2011 0 Comments Outfit of the DaySo this is kind of a double OOTD because I was unable to upload my last cute outfit but if you are a fan on Facebook (Live Life Your Way) or a friend of mine you will have seen some photos of it! SO that outfit was a super comfy crop top in teal from Urban Planet ($11) and high-waisted front shorts overalls from Stitches ($24). I love this top because it can be worn with anything. It looks great with shorts of many colours, jeans, and could probably be rocked with some PVC leggings if the rest of the outfit was done right. I've even been able to wear it with a white tank underneath for work (where I obviously can't walk around with an exposed stomach). You can wear it off the shoulder or balance it across both or even pull the neckline right up to your throat so its shorter in the front than the back! So its very versatile, which is great so you don't get bored with it. It came in a huge range of colours and I had to resist buying them all. The overalls are something I have been looking for for i swear two years. I have never found a good pair that looked good with my body. So I liked these because they are high-waisted but just on the front, the back is just like regular height shorts. You can wear the straps in a few ways: one strap, two straps or no straps. The straps are adjustable so you can wear no straps and tighten them as much as they go so you don't have straps hanging past your knees. This also helps when you want to just wear one strap you can keep the second as close to your body as possible. You could rock high top sneakers, flip flops, gladiators or even little runners! I wore my brown ankle-height gladiators. Now, onto todays Outfit! Today it is a little cooler than it has been for the last week so I took a page out of my Dad's book and put on a nice polo, nice pants and a belt. :) So I give him full credit since this style is all his haha! So my polo is from iZod in a bright red, the only other time I've put this shirt on is when I first tried it on when I got it last summer. This is the first official wear and its proving to be very comfy. I paired it with my grey skinny jeans from Zara that I bought when I was in Spain a few years ago (oddly enough I'd never been in a Zara's before that even though we have them in Canada!) and put a nice black belt on because I tucked the shirt in. I think it looks very pulled together and the black belt is a good divide between the two colours. It looked good without a belt with the shirt tucked in but I feel the belt completes it. I will have a couple fashion posts coming that are NOT OOTDs so be patient because I have an essay due in a couple days so I may be taking a break from posting! 6/9/2011 0 Comments Outfit of the DaySo today I was feeling very bright and cheerful and allowed that to reflect in my outfit. I wore a bright orange tube top that I got from Gap last summer and it has an elastic about 3 inches above the hem which gives the top a unique look and the front of the top has some extra fabric that flips over the bust and two string dangle from it with gold beads. I wanted to wear something denim and since it was a little cooler out I almost wore jeans but when I couldn't find the capris I wanted I decided that I would wear a skirt. I have two go-to denim skirts, ones is a light wash and the other a medium wash. With the brightness of the shirt I thought that the lighter of the two was the best fit. I got the skirt last summer at a Guess outlet in Cali I paired the outfit with my brown ankle top gladiators. Today I decided to wear my hair down so I placed one of my flower hair clips in my hair and it was a bright yellow. Then to continue with the brightness I decided to do bright eyes. I did a look that reminds me of a sunrise. I used the two bright colours: yellow & orange with a bit of white liner and I'll attach that photo as well. If you guys like it I can do a tutorial for the look or something quite similar! 6/6/2011 0 Comments Awesome Tank Top!So for those who have been up-to-date on my youtube videos you will have seen my comfy purple tank top! It is the most comfy thing. I do like some clothes on the tighter side but on hot and sticky days the best thing is something loose yet stylish. So this past week or so I've had my eye on this one style we've had and its regular price is $14.94 which is not bad but after working retails for a few years you become a bit stingy within your own store. To my surprise the tank top was one of the many styles we have on sale this week! It is on sale for $10 in Canadian store; I looked at the American site and for you ladies across the border the regular price is $16.94 and only a select few patterns/colours are on sale for $12.50 according the US site. In the Canadian store all prints/patterns/colours are on the same price! So thats a bonus for us Canadian gals.
The style of this tank as I mentioned is loose but if you go to the size you usually are (in my case I usually wear an XS) it isn't as loose as you would think it is just by holding it up. So be adventurous and pick up the next size up; no one is going to think you thats too big and it just has a more relaxed feel which is what you are going for in the first place. The front looks like a basic tank but it goes into a racerback with a decorative knot in the middle and it comes in ~10 colours! So if you want to, you can get one in every colour and you will wear every single one! They are a little longer so they look good with shorts, leggings and regular jeans. Mine is purple and white and today I'm wearing them with a blue denim cut-off short but if I was going out I'd rock them with my white shorts and white/beige wedges. Some colours are easier to dress up than others but its purpose is more casual so don't worry about it! I'll post a pic of my tank for those who haven't seen my new video yet (but be sure to check it out -- the link's in Beauty). Here's a CDN link for the tops: http://oldnavy.gapcanada.ca/browse/product.do?cid=26194&vid=1&pid=840411 And the US counterpart:http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=26194&vid=3&pid=840411 6/5/2011 1 Comment Outfit of the DayHello Fashionista's !
SO, my outfit today may seem a little more "Spring" than "Summer" but then again summer hasn't officially arrived yet although the weather is doing pretty well. The inspiration to my outfit is all these fresh flowers in my house due to my Nana's funeral yesterday. They couldn't all stay at the grave site so my Dad and I took some home so our ground floor smells great! I made the comment to my dad a little while ago that we should get fresh flowers every once and a while to brighten up the place and now we have three HUGE bunches! I'm wearing a light green tank top that I got from an American store called J Crew last summer and paired it with my pink flower skirt I got from work (Old Navy) also from last summer. The skirt has white flowers, as well as blues and purples so its great for pairing with different coloured tops! When holding it up it seems that it should be a high waisted skirt but once you put it on (its has an elastic panel on the back - no zippers/clasps) it doesn't have a tight enough fit to stay high so you have to jig it a little but it looks great wherever it falls tightly to your body! Paired it with my white gladiators, a white flower hair piece and I'm painting my nails pink since they have been au natural for such a long while! |
