7/12/2011 0 Comments Look Of the DaySo I'm changing things up a bit and making this post a "Look" rather than just an "Outfit" mostly because of my hair ahaha. I'm just wearing a comfy pink tee that I got from work the other day (Old Navy in case you're new to reading me). It's a more slouchy tee and I got in the next size up because my size was a little more form fitting than I wanted and I got a colour that would shock you because I don't do pink ahaha. I was going to also get a bright blue or a nice green but figured I have shirts those colours so I felt adventurous. Because it is a bit on the long side I took the rope belt off of a pair of shorts I have and tied it around my hips and its just a slightly off white colour and I jumped into a pair of grey capris leggings for something light and comfy. Now to make it a look I had my hair in small braids yesterday after my shower (what I like to call white girl cornrows because I french braid them) and today I took it out and have nice small kinks instead of if I'd just done two braids and the kinks are few and far between. If you'd like I can show you guys how I braid my hair! Hope you like it! xo 7/8/2011 1 Comment DIY Earrings!Hey guys, so this is going to be the DIY post I said I may do a video on. I decided since I don't have a camcorder yet it will be too difficult to film without having to hold the computer funny and blahblahblah. SO. My bestie is as some of you know Nigerian and very proud of her African roots and she has a few very pretty pictures on her Facebook Wall that are African inspired and whatnot. One of these photos in particular caught my eye because it was an earring in the continental shape of Africa and painted in a "tribal" design, or at least what the fashion trend of "tribal" looks like. I have always been crafty and decided that I was going to make her and I these earrings as a BFF piece. I am going to show you guys the inspirational photo (which doesn't belong to me/I have no claim on it) and I'll upload a picture of the final pieces, I may also be making one into a necklace.
So recently I went on a shopping strike. I'm sure you all took a second to laugh at that but it's the truth. It lasted all of maybe 2 weeks at most. I found I was getting a lot of stuff that I could probably live without byt still wanted because I really didn't have anything like it already in my closet. I had resisted up until the moment I had gone to Michael's Craft store when I was getting materials for some DIY projects that I'll probably show you guys on here or in a video (one of them is technically a secret because I'm doing it for my besties birthday gift so we'll see how this plays out). Anyways I headed over to the store Urban Planet which always has good deals and sales on and I haven't been there since February and you don't understand but I went CRAZY. I feel like I tried on 3/4 of the store, no lie. I tried on like 35+ items. It.Was.Madness! But because I'm clearly not a millionaire I couldn't afford everything that I was trying on and I'm actually surprisingly good at convincing myself OUT of buying things (go me! although my dad would probably disagree). So I walked away after god knows how long in there with a cute floral romper, a funky flower tank and nude coloured strappy heels/sandals. I have been looking for the perfect pair of nude pumps and I refuse to pay 70+ dollars on them even though I know I would get full value of them and these sandals looked amazing with the floral romper and I actually wore that out the same night because my boyfriend was taking me out for dinner and a movie for my birthday (a day early because I was out of town on the 1st). And I ran into some of my girls (hence known as frosh babies) and they were like OMG you look awesome and I was happy that the outfit worked. I'll post a shot of it from that night or I'll put it on again to show you guys. I also caved while at the mall to go into Ardene's (which is like Claire's incase the US doesn't have it) and they always have deals so I picked up some 3/$10 bracelets, necklaces and a pair of earrings. So I'll be doing a haul with those ASAP to show you guys!
