Designer Dilemma

I don't know if any of you guys have ever had this problem but it seems that a lot of clothing items I want I either can't find, or I find it but I don't really like it. I feel either the material is wrong, don't like the print or whatever; and then  I say to myself, "I wish I could just make my own clothes." I have never touched a sewing machine before but I have used needle and thread but for nothing more than patching a rip in a top or jeans.
I have always been a very creative person but my personal abilities don't quite match what I'm capable of imagining; which is quite the dilemma... I just need to pair up with a friend of mine who is more artistically inclined then I am so they can help get the ideas down and then I'll have to learn how to sew... *sigh*  I wish I could be like Sabrina the Teenage Witch and could just snap my fingers and get what I'd like.
So I guess my dilemma is my artistic skills; I need to learn how to draw clothes and then fabric hunt and learn to sew. Maybe if I ever truly pursued these ideas I'd be able to make myself the perfect pair of jeans (because I have yet to find a pair that fit me everywhere I want them to). I'll be helping to style a photo shoot with some of my friends in July and helping with makeup as well and my girls are on point with
Do you guys have any fashion dreams? Is something holding you back? Let me know :)

Old Navy used to make the "Diva" which looked great on the butt, but they've since changed pocket placement and now they just aren't flattering like they used to be. 7 For All Mankind makes fantastic jeans but they run like $200! Right now I'm enjoying the dark wash "Real Straight" jeans from the Gap. They're a little pricey too, but at least they last FOREVER.

I have ALWAYS wanted to learn how to make clothes because I go to the store and I HATE what they are selling (just one of the reason's I shop at Value Village). I would love to learn but it is 1. expensive and 2. if not expensive, time consuming to teach yourself and just don't have the time.
SO, it sucks. Anyway, if you do pursue this I think I have at least a suggestion so you can save some money. When you're practicing, don't go out and buy practice material, just go to Value Village and buy old clothes that look like crap and practice changing them OR buy sheets/blankets/big items that can be turned into something else.
I always thought that's what I would do if I got to learn haha :)
