12/6/2011 0 Comments A $10,000 Subscription?!A WHAT?! Yes Lovelies! Such a thing exists for those big spenders! This was brought to my attention earlier today by a fellow blogger/YouTuber (all her info will be below). It is from the company Julep, who does all things nails. I stumbled upon the website back in the summer when I saw some of their polishes in monthly favourites videos. They have an amazing range of colours but are on the pricey side (for me), coming in at $14.00. I can't justify OPI @ $10 so you can see how $14 is a stretch. Anywho, these polishes are all named with female names which I think is an interesting concept. I myself prefer the creative names from other brands (Jamaica-me Crazy, My Auntie Drinks Chianti, Warm and Fozzie, etc.)
But chit-chat aside, Julep offers a monthly box subscription which is similar to the beauty boxes offered in Canada, U.S. & U.K. but comes with two polishes and other hand goodies. The monthly price is a little more than beauty boxes at $19.99 but each box is guaranteed to have at least $40 worth of merchandise. The currently have a first-time Mavens trial for only $5 and I am strongly considering this offer. You do a little quiz at the beginning which slots you into one of I believe five categories (I came in as 'It Girl'). They send you colours that have yet to be released to the public and off you 20% off future Julep purchases (which makes the polishes 'only' $11.20). Now what Rai found was a $10,000 subscription and we were both like EXCUSE ME?! This is a LIFETIME subscription. So I decided to do some math (which I don't willingly do very often aha) to figure out what $10,000 means in terms of Julep Maven boxes. Here's what I got, $10,000 divided by $20 = 500 boxes, 500 boxes = 1,000 polishes, 500 boxes divided by 12 = 41.6 YEARS of boxes. GOOD GRIEF. That is a) a lot of polish & b) a long time. How do we know the company will be around that long? What happens if they went out of business? I would not be pleased ahaha and I would do the math and demand the thousands lost, back. My thoughts: if you have $10,000 to spend on this nail polish subscription you may not be around long enough to benefit from the purchase, and if you are you should have spent the money on university! Question time: - Would you ever consider splurging a ridiculous amount on a subscription? Let me know! http://twitter.com/#!/MorenaBarbee http://www.youtube.com/MorenaBarbeehttp://www.glam-morena.com
