Today I am going to be sharing with you my first impressions on the three Kat Von D Vegan Beauty products I received recently from Influenster: True Portrait Foundation, Everlasting Blush & XO Vinyl Lip Cream. The products that I'm going to be sharing with you today are KVD True Portrait foundation, Everlasting Blush and XO Vinyl Lip Cream. I will also link my YouTube video sharing the visual of my first impressions. True Portrait Foundation Shade received: Light 004 40 Shades available Lightweight medium coverage Liquid to Powder finish I would say my biggest hesitation when doing my survey for this box was choosing a foundation shade via a screen. I am on the fair side, there is no denying that, but I have a really hard time matching because my skin tone isn't "warm" enough, "cool" enough or "neutral" enough. I blame my freckles. So choosing online I knew that I wasn't going to be the lightest shade, so I suppose I chose #4. Now the surprising turn of events is that....it's too light...SAY WHAT?! That has never happened in my life. I wouldn't be surprised if it never happened again either haha. So you will notice in the video as I apply it with my hands (which is the recommended route) my eyes go quite wide as it looks like I am applying a sunscreen to my face. It looked quite white and I was very nervous. In the end it wasn't the worst shade in the world, it was definitely lighter but blended down my neck, it was doable. I had Scott's sisters suss it out and they agreed that the colour was too light but the tone of it helped pull it off. Now as I was applying it, I noticed the liquid to powder finish. I've never used a product like that before so it was a bit bizarre feeling the liquid become powdery on my finger tips. If you have dry skin, you will most definitely NOT enjoy this product as it catches and settles around any texture you may have. It had a bit of a hard time around my nose and the corners of my lips post-meal. It also accentuated around a few spots that I had around my forehead. It recommended applying moisturizer first, to ensure that your skin is hydrated before applying, but even with doing that (I used my Drunk Elephant moisturizer) it still picked up on any texture on my face. I found that it just didn't melt into the skin as nicely as I'd hoped. Another thing that I noticed with the "medium" coverage is that over top of my freckles it almost made them appear dusty. So if you have perfect, plain skin that is in no way dry, this could be a really good fit for you. I will keep trying it to give it another chance but if it's too pale now it looks like I will only ever be able to wear it in the winter. I will note, as I did in the video, it is a squeeze tube package which I'm not sure will give you every drop of product. The only portion you can actually squeeze is the soft plastic where you see the shade. The rest of the packaging I like, cap screws on, has a bit of weight to it and is clearly ornate. Everlasting Blush Shade received: Foxglove Described as a Dusty Rose 6 Shades available High-pigment colour that lasts all day The second product I was trying out was the Everlasting Blush in Foxglove and let me tell you this is hands down my favourite product. It says to "kiss" the blush with your brush because it's pigmented - IT IS NOT LYING. You can quite easily go overboard. Now if that's your vibe, rock it. The foxglove shade is defined a dusty rose which is one of my absolute favourite blush colours. It's a natural flush of colour which suits many skin tones. It will last you a very long time because of the strong pigmentation. Beware there is a lot of kickback in the pan. But I will be rocking this blush a lot, for all seasons! The packaging has a very pretty petal design, in a matte black. It's lightweight so it feels a little bit cheap but to be honest it doesn't bother me at all. I think it will still hold up well in a purse/makeup bag. XO Vinyl Lip Cream Shade received: Lolita Described as: Chestnut Rose 5 Shades available Extreme opacity gloss with bold pigment & vinyl-shine I received Lolita as my shade and I quite like it. I am sometimes a bit cautious with deeper (for me) shades and in tube I felt that it may come off rather dark. But it didn't make me look washed out which is nice. It applies smoothly, the applicator is kind of a flat doe foot with more of an 8 shape. Didn't glob on too much product and it smelled quite nice. It has a luster to it but it wasn't overly shiny. I think with "vinyl" emphasized it may cause some to think it's really shiny when it's more of a luster. It is labelled as a lip "cream" so I wasn't sure how long it would last but with my first impression I had Thai and dessert and when I checked in after 5 hours it was definitely not how it started but most of my lips had the colour as more of a stain. I didn't reapply at all but if you carried it around with you to touch up, it seems like it would build up nicely and not wipe off what you already had. No one likes when products pill up on your lips trying to reapply! Overall Thoughts I don't think I would purchase the foundation or the lip cream in different shades but I would definitely consider picking up other shades of the blush. I've reached for this blush pretty consistently since I received it and have loved it with every look. Have you tried any of these products? Do you have any other KVD products that you swear by? I'd love to know in the comments or you can hit me up on instagram. Be sure to check out the First Impressions video below.
