So, back in June I was very busy, I left for Florida on the 7th and was gone for 10 days to visit my mum. Unfortunately it was a busy time for her at work and I didn't get to see very much of her but we did of course make time for one big day of shopping. Let me tell you, I usually have a LOT of will power and self-control while I'm shopping. I can if necessary limit myself to trying on only a few items of clothing, or nothing at all and just window shop. Well let me tell you that was the first thing to go out the bloody window while I was out with my mum. The goal was to pick up pieces I would be able to wear to work, and maybe the odd causal piece here and there. Well...I think I tried on a good chunk of the store. I had a buggy FULL and OVERFLOWING clothes that I wanted to try on and prayed fit aha. Of course there was a limit on the number of items I could bring into the change room which made my time there so much more painful. I believe the limit was 6 or 8 so it took me well over an hour to try on all of these clothes. My mother organized all of the items on a rack just outside the change room so I could quickly switch out items and we constantly (even with her standing guard...yes...standing GUARD) had to tell people to stop touching my stuff hahahaha. So sad to admit out loud but it's the truth. Anywho, my budget from mum was $300 and I just made it under but got 21 pieces, so I'm totally impressed with myself. For more details on the clothes & shops check out this post.
After coming back from Florida I got to spend some time with family visiting from England, we had a nice BBQ and caught up since it's been a few years since they've been over. Plus they wanted to know more about my job and move. I also got to meet my great aunt which was pleasant. Then a couple days later I had my graduation ceremony and I was officially a teacher! I can't believe it's been five years since I started university, it honestly feels like I was just moving to Mississauga to start Frosh! Scary... The family has been super supportive and proud of my accomplishments which makes it even better/more rewarding. After that hectic week happened, I had my fingers crossed that I would get my camp job back and after harassing the poor girl who manages the office work, I got a call to come back! Obviously my birthday was the 1st of July, the night before I went out spontaneously with a girl friend of mine to a local resto-lounge that had a 90s Flashback night which I thoroughly enjoyed. On my birthday a good friend of mine took me out to lunch and we went down to a beach in Toronto for a BBQ and a chill night. Camp is always busy, met some great people who I really bonded and connected with and will definitely keep in touch with, and got to reconnect with some people from last year. And that takes me through all of July and the first week of August. I had two weeks off before my move so I tried to cram a little too much in ahaha. I did get to see a lot of friends, had a hell of a time trying to pack. Surprisingly packed my makeup in less than 30 minutes, nail polish took hours to narrow down, work clothes were easy to pack but casual clothes nearly killed me. Last weekend was crunch time and I had to FaceTime my best friend to help me pack because I was freaking out and she very easily (almost too easily if you ask me) told me what I was not allowed to pack LOL. We didn't always see eye to eye and sometimes I snuck things in anyways bahaha but it definitely helped me a lot. Then I come to this past Monday, August 18th - aka MOVING DAY. So I now had ALL my clothes laid out on blankets on my living room/dining room floor to make sure I wasn't forgetting things, I had all my toiletry bags out, shoes, coats and purses and my two luggage pieces. Up until that point I had ZERO ISSUE fitting my clothes in the two bags, shoes were going to go into my rolling carry on while my electronics were to go into my backpack as my second carry on piece. What happens when you add a couple coats and some toiletry bags? ALL HELL BREAKS LOOSE! Oh lord, it was terrible. I ended up having to add a third piece of luggage and scrap the rolling carry on. I was not impressed because it meant paying more to get them on the plane *sigh* but they all worked out in the end and were underweight. Well...except one but the nice lady didn't charge me LOL she gave me shit though ahaha. I just kept saying "I'm moving for a year it was hard to fit my life in three bags" I don't think she was really listening though... WHATEVER! So my flight left Toronto at 6:45 and usually I watch two movies and then sleep but for some reason sleep was not an option for me this time and I watched three movies back to back (The Other Woman, That Awkward Moment & 300: Rise of an Empire) and then played games on my personal TV, listened to some music and then it was time for breakfast and we landed. I've been pretty jet lagged which is rare for me and therefore even more annoying. My flatmate picked me up from the airport and we really hit it off which is great, we were suppose to have another roommate but she declined which worked out better in the end. I had a couple of meetings this week, one with my principal and staff members, got a tour of the school, got to see my classroom, etc which was nice & then today I had a meeting with my agency to set up final paperwork, and other things and I did a quite dash to the PoundLand (dollar store) for a few things and some groceries. That, lovelies, brings you right up to this very point of me sitting at home on a quite Friday night (flat mate is out), writing this blog post. Jet lag is still driving me nuts, and it's 1:25am now (8:25pm back home) and I'm not even a little bit tired but I think I'll turn the laptop off and do some writing before calling it a night. I am hoping to film a lot this weekend and this week so that I'm covered for videos for the beginning of term and I'm not scrambling to film/edit while marking and working on lessons! xoxo
