6/4/2011 0 Comments Finally At RestToday was my grandmothers funeral and yesterday was spent doing a bunch of things unfortunately everything I wanted to do for my channel and here got scratched. But I will be making up for it tonight and tomorrow before I go to work.
Today started out in the most horrible way, rain and lots of it, with thunder and lightening (which my nana HATED); so we were all a little disappointed with that and hoped that the weather got its act together quick. I sang mass with my partner in crime Elise, who sings with me and plays the organ every week at mass and apparently I made my aunt cry and brought tears to others because my family has never really heard me sing so as nerve racking as it was they were all proud of me. Everyone was complimenting me and it was getting a little awkward because I always sing and so getting so much attention all at once about something I do so frequently was a little bizarre. While the mass was going on we could just hear the rain pounding and the rolling thunder, luckily there was no electrical issues. After the mass was finished we took a few photos of my nana's urn with her photos and flowers and then we all had to mission out with these huge arrangements of flowers (which look and smell amazing) which were a pain in the butt to transport! We got to the cemetery and my priest Father Joe did another mini ceremony we put flowers into the ground on top of her urn and then most of my family took a little shovel of dirt and placed it on top which in all honesty I think everyone was a little weirded out but it was nice. Then we headed to a reception at a restaurant near by and caught up on everyones lives and had a fun time. Then SOMEONE insisted on photos so everyone who was there was without choice made to pose and we got some funny photos. There are a couple good ones of my and my little (although taller) cousin Alexandria which I'll post as well as some good shots of the flowers. Overall I think my Nana is finally at peace because she in resting physically and spiritually with my Papa who she hasn't seen for 16 years. Love you Nana!
