3/23/2020 0 Comments My Skincare RoutineSkincare is definitely not something that I'm great at, but I have to admit I've actually done extremely well recently. Is it an everyday/twice a day thing? No... but it's now multiple times a week whereas before it would be a lot less. So I wanted to share what I've been using recently and some of my musings. I'd love to know what your go-to products are! So as I've mentioned, I'm kinda crap at keeping up with taking care of myself. I recently pulled out all of my skincare products to help declutter and boy oh boy did I surprise myself at just how much I had...and how much I've never even tried...whoops! First off I'll share that I was never someone who thought they needed to spend tonnes of money on skincare; and for the longest time I didn't really have a skincare routine. I know the argument that skincare should be where you put most of your money, as it's going to help make any other products you use on your skin, be better. I will say that I'm inclined to believe that now, but still can't bring myself to spend so much on a single product. How does one decide which product should be the splurge? I should also mention what characteristics my skin has so that it can help you out. I know skin changes with the seasons and age and to be honest, I'm not 100% sure what my skin is anymore. I used to be oilier, so I would go for oily/combo, but sometimes I get dry in certain areas. I thought my skin was sensitive for a short period of time too. Now I would say I think I'm more normal? Whatever that means ahaha. I'm not acne prone but I do get some spots around my hairline, nose and chin. I think they may be more hormonal based but again, not really sure. You can see my skincare is split between drugstore and higher end. I don't know exactly what I'm looking for in a product or if that product will be right for me, so I tend to go drugstore over anything high end. When this COVID crisis is over I am definitely going to book myself in somewhere to learn more about my skin and get a facial or something. For my cleansers, both were gifts. The Origins Checks & Balances one was part of a Christmas gift set I received a couple years ago and the Drunk Elephant Jelly Cleanser was the Sephora birthday gift last year. I more often use the Drunk Elephant one but some days I just grab whichever is closer. They both lather/foam well and the Origins has a cool iridescence to it. I use my hands with these but will occasionally use my Braun facial brush. Then I will use my Nivea Purifying Toner around my face and down my neck as well. This always helps to pick up anything left behind. Once that has settled a little bit I get into the Q10 products from Nivea. I use the Q10 plus C Anti-Wrinkle + Energy eye cream to help keep that delicate skin plump and nourished. Then I use the Q10 Power Anti-Wrinkle Replenishing Pearls all over my face and jaw. It literally comes out as little yellow pearls that when rubbed into your face melt away. I also will sometimes layer or switch out the Q10 Pearls for the Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide cream which also came in the birthday set from Sephora. I do feel a difference when I am more consistent with my skincare routine and I feel that both moisturizers leave my skin feeling great when I wake up. I'm looking to add in one of the serums I own as an extra night step so I will update you when that happens.
What are your personal favourites when it comes to skincare? It could be a brand or a particular product you swear by. I like to hear what other people use, so let me know what your skin-type is as well!
