9/2/2015 3 Comments Recap | Summer 2015
This year so far has not been the nicest to be in the area of love and boys and has actually been really difficult for me and prompted me to film my "Moving On" story which was incredibly well received by my friends and others. But if you follow my social media you'll know that I was in a relationship (albeit a short one) earlier this summer, and it had me so excited for summer and all the things we were going to do, only for it to end just over a month in, very unexpectedly. It actually shook me up so badly that I dipped into a small depression that was hard to shake. My anxiety was very high at that point with so much running through my mind and then to add insult to injury that person jumped almost directly into another relationship. It's been almost 3 months since that happened and I'm happy for them now and I've moved on and have a couple chances to be happy myself in the coming weeks. I must admit that I am scared to get into another relationship with the guys that I'm talking to because I just feel like that situation will happen all over again and I don't think I can take anymore disappointment in the land of love in 2015. I know I'm complaining about it being September but I hope that 2016 is a new lease on relationships for me. I'll take something now but I just don't want to get overly excited about it in case it doesn't work and I'm back at square one. But I'm learning to go with the flow and just see what happens!
I was aiming to upload three days a week this summer for July/August and thought I could easily balance that with work, but honestly it felt impossible! This summer (July/August) consisted of 9-11hrs/day working at a camp. Got to have some adventures with my coworkers and reconnect with them which has been great; they really are awesome girls and they are the type of people that no matter what's happening or going on in life, they are there to listen and support you. I think we will definitely be friends for years to come. Not much to share about work, other than I didn't have time off until last week! Was definitely busy days and I'd come home and just melt on my couch. Didn't get to film like I wanted to this summer because of it but in the last week or so since I had a few days off, I feel immensely more driven/enthusiastic/motivated about my channel and blog. Something I was starting to lack in recent months. I have waves of enthusiasm because it can be really easy to be dragged down when you don't feel successful or don't feel like what you're putting into something is being appreciated or noticed by others. But I've got nothing but good vibes right now so I'm going to keep that going and just do what I have to do! A few more fun things to talk about on here so this doesn't become too much of a Debby-Downer type of post, I've had some really awesome opportunities brought my way since April! End of April I had the chance to attend Fashion Art Toronto which was 5 days of Toronto Designers showcasing their work (I only attended 4, because I flew back on Day 1). I wore my friend Lesley's designs for each of the shows and the street photographers and attendees LOVED the pieces, we got lots of compliments which was awesome. That also gave me opportunity to be the MUA for a photoshoot at the beginning of May! It was my first time doing makeup for editorial, so I was incredibly nervous, but the photographer is now a friend and she was super sweet and the designer was also great to work with! I couldn't share any of the photos because we were waiting for them TO BE PUBLISHED IN MAGAZINES! *swoon* Yes, I'm technically now a published Makeup Artist...we were published in two magazines which is totally awesome. It actually took a while for that to sink in and still really hasn't aha. I sound very casual when I mention it, but I'm definitely happy/proud. Then nothing too crazy in June, July was my 24th birthday and August brought me another opportunity to work with Lesley. She had a wearable art showcase last week that I modelled in, wearing one of her newer pieces. I got a lot of compliments on my walk and fierceness and may have actually booked two more modelling gigs because of that! So I'm excited to see where that goes (if anywhere aha). I've also reached out to a few photographers to do some portfolio work with in the comings weeks/months, which is exciting. So lots of doors seem to be opening for me! The only thing I need to work on is job hunting, for tutoring/teaching, working retail (beauty stores/brands) or getting my SmartServe and working in a bar/restaurant. So let's see how this Autumn pans out and closing up 2015. I'm just about finished catching up now on posts and videos and I have some great content coming this month, a number of makeup tutorials coming and hopefully one or two Lookbook/Fashion videos. I'm also hoping to get my hands on a DLSR after a loooooooong time of staring and wishing and hoping! So fingers crossed that happens ASAP. Of course, if you have any video/post requests leave me a comment or hit up my social media!
